Bethor Spirit Vessel Wealth Amulet Necklace - Haunted Spirit of Jupiter Spirit Companion
π BETHOR β Olympic Spirit of Jupiter Β· Arbatel de Magia Veterum, 1575 Β· for the one who has earned expansion and been given none
Meet Bethor.
The Arbatel names seven Olympic Spirits who govern the seven planetary offices β Aratron, Bethor, Phaleg, Och, Hagith, Ophiel and Phul β and places them not in Hell but in the firmament and the stars. They are planetary governors, each carrying the nature and authority of the sphere entrusted to them.
Bethor holds Jupiter.
And Jupiter is the large office: dignity, increase, patronage, authority, prosperity and the expansion of a life that has become too large for its present limits.
The Arbatel is unusually direct about him. Bethor is associated with great dignities and treasures; he reconciles the spirits of the air so that they answer truly, causes precious stones to be brought, and grants familiars of the firmament.
Beneath him the book gives an extraordinary hierarchy: forty-two kings, thirty-five princes, twenty-eight dukes, twenty-one counsellors, fourteen ministers, seven messengers and twenty-nine thousand legions.
Everything about Bethor is scale.
He is for the keeper who has done the work and not been raised for it. The person doing senior work under a junior title, carrying responsibility that has quietly outgrown the recognition attached to it, or watching opportunities repeatedly pass toward people whose ability is no greater than their own.
Bethor is the Jovian answer to that frustration.
Not frantic ambition.
Expansion properly occupied.
π What an Olympic Spirit Is
An Olympic Spirit is not a demon, an angel or a human dead. It is a governing intelligence of a planetary office β a spirit of the firmament approached through planetary symbolism, seal, timing and ceremony.
That distinction matters with Bethor because his current is not hot or aggressive. Jupiter does not force a door by striking it harder. It enlarges the room until the old boundary no longer makes sense.
Bethor's symbolism therefore belongs to elevation, standing, opportunity, patronage, prosperity and becoming comfortable with larger responsibility.
Gold and royal blue are his truest colours here: the unmistakable colours of Jovian dignity.
βοΈ RANK & WHAT HE REQUIRES
β’ Rank: Olympic Spirit and governor of the Jovian office. 42 kings, 35 princes, 28 dukes, 21 counsellors, 14 ministers and 7 messengers beneath him in the Arbatel.
β’ Level: intermediate to advanced. He is approached formally rather than treated as a casual familiar.
β’ Demands: regularity rather than intensity. Bethor suits steady ceremonial attention far better than frantic attempts to force movement.
β’ Register: cool, elevated, generous and unhurried.
β’ First vessel? Possible, though better suited to someone comfortable with a formal planetary current.
π€ WHO BETHOR IS
Bethor is expansive, formal and enormously composed.
There is very little desperation in Jupiter, and that is important.
His current does not belong to the person begging to be noticed. It belongs to the person beginning to understand that capability does not need to present itself apologetically forever.
Bethor represents the structural raise: greater standing, a larger office, stronger authority, better patronage and the point where the position around you finally begins to resemble the level at which you have already been operating.
He does not symbolize being handed importance without substance beneath it.
Jupiter enlarges what is already capable of carrying more.
π― WHO THIS IS FOR
β’ Anyone doing senior work under a junior title
β’ Those repeatedly overlooked despite having already demonstrated the ability
β’ Keepers drawn to elevation, recognition and greater professional standing
β’ Anyone who feels their ceiling has remained fixed long after they outgrew it
β’ Practitioners who prefer planetary ceremonial currents to infernal ones
β’ Those ready for expansion without needing it to happen overnight
π WHAT WORKING WITH BETHOR FEELS LIKE
β’ A cool, spacious and elevated atmosphere rather than an intense one
β’ Becoming less inclined to reduce the size of what you ask for
β’ Greater comfort with authority, responsibility and visible competence
β’ Patronage and recognition becoming central themes in personal practice
β’ Thinking about opportunities in terms of scale and responsibility rather than quick luck
β’ The sense that a ceiling should be examined rather than automatically accepted as permanent
π ABILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH BETHOR'S CURRENT
Bethor's current follows Jupiter: expansion, dignity, patronage, prosperity and the movement from merely being capable to being regarded accordingly.
π ELEVATION & STATUS β The Greater Dignity
This is Bethor's clearest office.
The Arbatel explicitly associates his character with great dignities, making his current naturally suited to questions of rank, title, advancement, professional standing and whether the position you currently occupy reflects the responsibility you already carry.
Bethor does not represent pretending to be important.
He represents ceasing to make yourself smaller than the work you are already doing.
ποΈ PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION β Being Seen From Above
Jupiter understands hierarchy.
Excellent work matters, but advancement often also requires that the work becomes visible to someone capable of recognizing it.
Bethor's current is associated with presenting ability clearly, allowing competence to be seen without embarrassment, and becoming more deliberate about where important work is placed and who actually knows you are doing it.
Recognition is not always about being louder.
Sometimes it is about becoming visible at the correct level.
π€ PATRONAGE β The Powerful Taking an Interest
Patronage is one of the oldest Jovian ideas.
A teacher, senior figure, sponsor, mentor or person with greater reach recognizes value and chooses to support, recommend or make space for someone whose ability deserves a larger field.
Bethor's current represents the importance of these upward relationships: not dependence on powerful people, but understanding how much a serious recommendation, introduction or act of confidence can change the scale at which good work is seen.
The larger room often opens because somebody already inside it says your name.
π EXPANSION β The Ceiling Lifted
Jupiter wants more room.
That can mean greater responsibility, wider reach, more authority, a larger project or simply enough space to operate at the level you have already reached.
Bethor is particularly suited to the person who has become too capable for the size of their present container.
Sometimes the problem is not that you need to become more qualified.
The structure around you has simply become too small.
π° PROSPERITY & TREASURE β The Jovian Increase
The Arbatel connects Bethor directly with treasure, giving his current an unmistakable prosperity aspect.
But Jovian prosperity is larger than the image of money arriving unexpectedly. It concerns resources, stability, generosity, position and having enough scope that decisions are not permanently dictated by scarcity.
Bethor represents increase that supports a larger life rather than a frantic chase after a larger number.
π CONFIDENCE AROUND AUTHORITY β Standing at the Larger Table
Some people are entirely competent until someone important enters the room.
Then the voice changes, the opinion acquires three unnecessary qualifications, and the person who knew exactly what they were talking about five minutes earlier suddenly begins behaving like a guest in their own expertise.
Bethor's dignity current represents remaining the same size in front of authority.
Respect rank where respect is deserved.
Do not disappear in front of it.
ποΈ LEADERSHIP β The Jovian Office
Bethor governs an enormous hierarchy in the Arbatel, and that makes leadership a natural extension of his current.
His symbolism favors ordered authority: delegation, judgment, responsibility and understanding what should remain in your hands versus what should be entrusted to somebody else.
Leadership is not doing every task personally.
The Jovian principle is large enough to coordinate the whole without needing to touch every individual piece.
ποΈ OPPORTUNITY β The Larger Door
Expansion requires recognizing opportunities that actually lead somewhere.
Bethor's current is associated with the larger project, the serious introduction, the position carrying meaningful responsibility and the possibility that requires you to stop presenting yourself as though you are still applying for a level you already know how to occupy.
Not every open door is important.
The Jovian question is whether the room behind it is larger.
π¬οΈ TRUE ANSWERS β The Spirits of the Air
This is one of Bethor's stranger historical offices.
The Arbatel says he reconciles the spirits of the air so that they give true answers.
That gives his current a secondary association with discernment, divination and receiving information without forcing it into the conclusion you already wanted.
Expansion still requires an accurate map.
Jupiter may be generous, but it is not improved by fantasy.
π PRECIOUS STONES β The Treasures Brought
The Arbatel specifically associates Bethor with precious stones being brought.
It is such a wonderfully literal grimoire detail that there is little reason to soften it into abstraction.
Within this piece, gemstones therefore remain part of Bethor's traditional symbolism: value made physical, something rare enough to be carried carefully and something whose worth is obvious once placed in the hand.
π DIGNITY WITHOUT BEGGING β Bethor's Deepest Current
Perhaps Bethor's deepest current is simply dignity.
Not arrogance and not entitlement.
The quiet recognition that after enough experience, responsibility and demonstrated ability, repeatedly asking whether you are allowed to occupy the next level can become its own form of self-reduction.
Jupiter does not crouch.
Bethor does not either.
π WHAT THE ARBATEL GIVES BETHOR π
β¦ One of the Seven Olympic Spirits β Bethor is the Jovian governor among the seven spirits of the firmament named by the Arbatel.
β¦ Forty-Two Provinces β The wider Olympic scheme assigns Bethor forty-two visible provinces.
β¦ An Enormous Court β Forty-two kings, thirty-five princes, twenty-eight dukes, twenty-one counsellors, fourteen ministers and seven messengers stand beneath him.
β¦ Twenty-Nine Thousand Legions β His hierarchy is enormous even by grimoire standards.
β¦ Great Dignities β Elevation and formal standing are among the clearest traditional associations attached to his character.
β¦ Treasure β Material increase belongs directly to his Jovian office.
β¦ True Answers β He reconciles the spirits of the air so that they answer truly.
β¦ Precious Stones β The bringing of precious stones is one of his unusually specific grimoire offices.
β¦ Familiars of the Firmament β The Arbatel also associates Bethor with granting spirits of the firmament.
β¦ A 490-Year Cycle β The Olympic scheme assigns each governor a period of this length, with Bethor's historical period placed centuries before the present day.
π BETHOR'S APPEARANCE
Bethor is most naturally represented as an enormous crowned figure seated very high, robed in gold and blue, entirely still and attended.
That appearance belongs to our house imagery rather than a portrait supplied by the Arbatel.
In dreams and symbolic work he belongs naturally to vaulted halls, enormous staircases, high windows, courts and rooms built on a scale larger than an ordinary person expects.
His atmosphere is spaciousness.
The strange experience of feeling small without feeling diminished.
π€ BETHOR'S NATURE
He is formal, generous and glacially composed.
Bethor does not suit frantic requests or the idea of Jupiter as a machine for producing lucky breaks.
His current is elevation, and elevation comes with consequences.
A larger position means greater responsibility.
Greater standing means greater visibility.
A larger room means more people are now watching what you do inside it.
That is what makes Bethor more interesting than simple prosperity symbolism.
He represents becoming large enough to carry what you asked to receive.
π―οΈ OFFERINGS & HONOURINGS
β’ Gold, or something gold-coloured, kept beside the vessel
β’ Blue and gold candles together
β’ Frankincense, cedar or nutmeg
β’ Thursday, the traditional Jovian day
β’ A written title, position or level of standing you are contemplating
β’ One practical action that prepares you for the larger responsibility you say you want
Offerings are optional and may be incorporated into personal devotional or symbolic practice.
ποΈ HOW TO CONNECT β PERSONAL PRACTICE
On a Thursday, light a blue and gold candle if desired and set something gold beside the pendant.
Say:
"I am [your name].
Bethor, governor of the Jovian office, let this piece remind me of expansion rightly earned.
Let me stop shrinking the work I already know how to do.
Let me recognize greater responsibility when it appears.
And let my standing become worthy of my ability."
Then consider the position you actually want.
What level are you already doing the work of?
Where are you still presenting yourself as smaller than your ability?
What responsibility would come with the standing you say you want?
Who needs to understand what you are capable of?
What would have to change in the way you behave if the ceiling genuinely lifted?
No promotion, patron, opportunity, financial increase or other external result is required.
π HOW BETHOR SPEAKS IN SYMBOL
Bethor's language is Jovian: gold, royal blue, crowns, high ceilings, long staircases, official letters, large rooms and the image of being admitted somewhere that previously seemed above you.
Dreams involving elevation, formal ceremonies, senior figures, courts, titles or large buildings fit naturally within his current.
Tarot, pendulum, automatic writing, journaling and similar practices may also be incorporated if personally meaningful.
Most Bethor symbolism eventually returns to one question:
If the larger room opened tomorrow, could you actually occupy it?
π LIVING WITH BETHOR
To live with Bethor's symbolism is to become less interested in the lucky break and more interested in the structure surrounding real elevation.
The title means something because responsibility comes with it.
Recognition matters because greater visibility follows it.
Patronage matters because reputation often travels through people.
Prosperity matters because a larger life requires greater resources to sustain it.
Bethor's current ties all of those things together.
He does not represent expansion without consequence.
He represents becoming proportionate to the expansion you have been asking for.
πΉ A Word From Seraphine
The Arbatel was in my mother's library before I could read it.
The Olympic spirits are part of the ceremonial material I have always loved because they feel nothing like the Goetia.
Everyone wants the Goetia because the Goetia has a reputation.
Bethor has an administration.
Forty-two kings, thirty-five princes, twenty-eight dukes, counsellors, ministers, messengers and twenty-nine thousand legions beneath one Jovian office.
And somehow all that scale comes down to one simple question:
How much larger can this become without becoming ridiculous?
That is what I had in mind while making this piece.
Not someone who wants a promotion because the title sounds impressive.
Someone already carrying the work, responsibility and competence of the larger role while still behaving as though asking to be recognized for it is somehow impolite.
That is an extremely Jupiter problem.
Bethor is a very Jupiter answer.
